Achille, Richard James, Industrial Engineer. Born May 2, 1933 in Kensington, Connecticut. Richard was instrumental In designing, developing and implementing the Logistics Engineering data bank. The system design utilized the management by exception principle by publishing reports of procurement or support requiring specific management action. Haldane, Harry Matthew, Supervisor, Planning Born September 28, 1915 in Bayonne, New Jersey. Harry joined the Saturn V Program at BATC in June, 1986, as a Supervisor in the Management Systems Organization. Mr. Haldane directed a group in the improvement of systems and methods used by Saturn Program managers to direct the performance of technical and craft personnel. Riley, Clarence Milton, Manager. Born February 23, 1916 in Piqua, Ohio. Mr. Riley was Quality Control Manager on two main Apollo/Saturn V efforts. From 1961 through 1965, he ensured the quality of the manufactured and assembled S-IC stage. In 1966, he was named to the chairing post of Quality Control Manager for all BATC operations. In both jobs, he directed the development of Quality Control documentation, the staffing of professional Quality Control organizations, and the accomplishment of audits and reviews. He personally innovated and directed Quality Control methods and procedures within the prescribed parameters of Company and Customer Quality Control policy. Wheeler, Jess H., Born June 4, 1918 in Danville, Indiana, joined Boeing as a Design Engineer September 7, 1954, Supervisor in Nose Airplane Program (Bomarcl until 1960; Supervisor in Program Control and Scheduling, M2 program until 1963. Joined the Saturn Program at Michoud as a Supervisor in Task Analysis and Directives in 1963; went to Cape Kennedy in 1966 to establish a Program Directives System. Long, Floyd C., Jr., 84, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, entered eternal life on June 12, 2015. The son of Floyd C. Long Sr. and Ruby (Worsham) Long, Floyd was born September 19, 1930, in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1949. Floyd met the love of his life, Sarah VanNoy, and married on Dec. 23, 1950, in Norwood, Missouri. He proudly served his country during the Korean War with the United States Air Force. Floyd graduated from University of Missouri School of Mines, Rolla, Missouri in 1959, in electrical engineering. He moved his family to Derby, Kansas in 1959, where Floyd worked, retired from Boeing-Wichita after 36 years, and moved to Belle Plaine. For many years, Floyd enjoyed being a member of the Derby Optimist Club, Wichita Model A Club, Pleasantview Baptist Church, and was a Derby 4-H leader. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, welding, making stained glass, collecting Model A's and parts, and spending time with family and friends. In recent years, he enjoyed helping his wife, Sarah, with quilting projects. His cheerful and kind nature will be missed by all. Floyd is preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife of 64 years, Sarah Long; children, Luann Delgado, Towanda, KS, Terry (Sharon) Long, South Lyon, MI, Karen (Manuel) Ramos, Irving, TX, Linda (Scott) Livermore, Frisco, TX; 6 grandchildren, Dana Long Affrunti, Brian Long, Cameron Delgado, Taylor Livermore, Kate Long, and Melissa Livermore; 4 great grandchildren William, Charlotte and Nathan Affrunti, and Mackenize Long; and sister, Ann (Gene) Staiger, Billings, MO; and many other relatives and friends. Floyd's family says to their beloved, "We will love you forever, we will remember you for always, and in time we will see you again." Visitation 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, with family present 5-7 p.m. at Smith Mortuary in Derby. Service will be Wednesday, June 17, at 10 a.m. at Pleasantview Baptist Church, 1335 N. Buckner, Derby followed by burial at Hillcrest Cemetery, Derby, Kansas. Memorials established with Alzheimer's Association , 1820 E.
